The support tube of the telescope with dimensions of 35 x 620 mm is made of special C-Mn manganese steel. This metal alloy is used to achieve high hardness and linear longitudinal elasticity.
The tube is intended for mounting in BMW motorbikes from the K 1200 RS and K 1200 GT series.
The material used for the production of these pipes comes from one of the best steel mills in Europe, which for many years has specialized in the production of pipes for vehicle suspension and other elements of hydraulic systems.
The pipe is covered with an outer layer of technical chrome with a thickness of about 0.03 mm. This is done so that the working sliding surface is smooth, hard and corrosion resistant. On the other hand, subsequent grinding and polishing on a few specialized machines makes the pipe resistant to scratches.
