The head covers on BMW R1200 models are made of magnesium alloy.
BMW designers, aiming to achieve the lowest possible weight of the motorcycle, used the covers are quite thin, and therefore vulnerable to impact. It should also be remembered that magnesium is a rather brittle metal.
For additional protection, we recommend using additional covers to protect the covers and, at the same time, the valve train components mounted in the head. Repairing damaged valve train components is usually very expensive !
The covers are made of aluminum alloy sheet shaped on numerically controlled machines. A massive aluminum alloy milled slide is embedded in the center of the cover.
